According to media reports, in the 1960s, Ratan Tata wanted to settle in America after completing his engineering from Cornell University. But due to his grandmother’s ill health, he returned to India. During that time, he had received an offer from IBM, with which JRD Tata was not happy. Ratan Tata got his first job offer from IBM. But the company had refused to work from India. After that, Ratan Tata agreed to JRD Tata’s request and applied for a job in Tata Steel. He joined there in the year 1962 as his first job. Ratan Tata got his first job in Tata Steel. He joined the Tata Group in 1962 and started working as an assistant in Tata Industries, then in 1963 he was transferred for a training program at Tata Iron and Steel Company, now Tata Steel, Jamshedpur.
