from Tata Sierra to Kia Seltos: upcoming SUVs’ Features and Specs revealed

India’s automotive market continues to expand, with rising competition across segments pushing carmakers to step up their game. In response, brands like Tata, Hyundai, Kia, and others are gearing up for an action-packed lineup of launches over the next few months.

While some models will get a fresh new look, others are all-new entrants, aiming to make a strong impact in the increasingly crowded space.

Here’s a look at some of the most anticipated upcoming cars:

New Tata Punch

With the SUV segment evolving rapidly, Tata Motors is set to give its popular micro-SUV, the Tata Punch, a significant design refresh. As per media reports, the updated Punch is expected to debut around November.

The facelifted model is likely to feature:

  • Redesigned bumpers
  • A reworked front fascia
  • Stylish 16-inch alloy wheels
  • Interior upgrades like a two-spoke steering wheel and a larger infotainment screen

The engine lineup is expected to remain the same as the Tata Altroz, with a possibility of retaining the diesel option as well.

Tata Sierra

The Tata Sierra is one of the most anticipated comebacks in Indian automotive history. Tata has been carefully developing the new Sierra, with camouflaged test mules spotted multiple times on Indian roads.

Here’s what to expect:

  • A bold design that pays homage to the original Sierra
  • Premium features with a modern 4-seater layout
  • A 1.5-litre TGDI petrol engine for the ICE version
  • The Sierra EV is expected to feature a segment-first dual-motor AWD setup

The ICE Sierra could arrive by December, while the electric variant may launch in the coming weeks.

Hyundai Venue

The next-generation Hyundai Venue (codenamed QU2i) is currently undergoing testing and will replace the model that originally debuted in 2019 and received a facelift in 2022.

Expected upgrades include:

  • A sleeker exterior design
  • A larger, extended infotainment display (similar to the Hyundai Creta)
  • Interior refinements for a more premium feel

The engine options are likely to remain the same, but expect a bump in prices from the current ₹7.94 lakh – ₹13.62 lakh (ex-showroom) range.

Kia Syros EV

Spotted testing in Korea, the Kia Syros EV is a promising addition to Kia’s electric lineup. Based on the ICE version but built on a reinforced K1 platform, the Syros EV is expected to blend familiarity with modern EV tech.

Key highlights:

  • Similar cabin layout to the ICE variant
  • Two battery options:
    • 42 kWh
    • 49 kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC)
  • Estimated range:
    • 300 km (42 kWh)
    • 355 km (49 kWh)
  • Expected price: ₹14-20 lakh (ex-showroom)

Hyundai Bayon

Slotting between the Exter and the Venue, the Hyundai Bayon will be a compact crossover built on the i20 platform. Designed for urban versatility, it will likely share several mechanical bits with the i20 hatchback.

Expected features:

  • A 1.2-litre petrol engine
  • Possible inclusion of mild-hybrid technology to boost fuel efficiency and performance

The Bayon will be Hyundai’s attempt to fill the gap in its lineup between small SUVs and premium hatchbacks.
