In July 2014, the Modi government introduced the Target Olympic Podium Scheme i.e. TOPS, under which such players were identified in different sports, who could be medal contenders in the Olympics. Under this, the players selected are given a stipend of 50 thousand rupees every month. Also, expenses are also available for any tournament or training program to be held abroad. Stars like PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Poonia and especially Neeraj Chopra won the medal in the Olympics and proved the success of this campaign.

In 2017, Khelo India Games was started in 2017 as part of cricket to give Olympic level players to the country. Its objective is not only the city, but also in rural areas to provide the platform and training to new players from school to college, so that the situation in big tournaments like Olympic and World Championships can improve in the coming years. This is the reason that 19 Khelo India Games have been organized at different levels in the last 8 years. Future stars are being prepared by organizing these games in different parts of the country under Khelo India Youth Games, Khelo India University Games, Khelo India Winter Games, Khelo India Para Games and Khelo India Beach Games.

This is the reason that not only the games are organized, but also to identify such players from small and big villages and cities of the country, who leave their mark in these games. For this, Khelo India Center (1057) and Khelo India State Center of Excellence (34) have been created, in which former champions train future players, take care of fitness through sports science with their skills.
