CM Yogi Adityanath Review Meeting: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the development action plan of Meerut, Kanpur and Mathura-Vrindavan. Also shared the master plan of what development will happen in these cities in the coming time.
Uttar Pradesh News: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while reviewing the action plan for overall urban development of Meerut, Kanpur and Mathura-Vrindavan on Wednesday, said that the development of these cities should not be limited only to the construction of roads and buildings, but their form should be such that there is a balance of local identity, history, culture and modern facilities. He directed that the schemes should be implemented in a phased manner, the works should be completed in a timely and quality manner and the citizens should see its direct benefits. The Chief Minister directed to explore the possibility of developing the proposed Bijli Bamba Bypass in Meerut in PPP mode on the lines of Lucknow Green Corridor.
Their development will be on the lines of Ayodhya-Kashi and Prayagraj.
In the meeting, the Divisional Commissioners of the three divisions informed about their action plan one by one through video conferencing. It was told that on the lines of Ayodhya, Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Prayagraj, now integrated development model is being adopted for Meerut, Kanpur and Mathura-Vrindavan also. Based on discussions with public representatives and coordination between departments, a total of 478 projects have been outlined in these cities. Of these, development of 111 projects is proposed in Meerut, 109 in Kanpur and 258 in Mathura-Vrindavan. These projects have been divided into short-term, medium-term and long-term categories and clear deadlines have been set.
What will happen in Meerut and Kanpur in 2025-26?
It was told in the meeting that as part of the first phase action plan, work should be done on 11 priority projects in Meerut, 13 in Kanpur and 14 in Mathura-Vrindavan in the year 2025-26. In these projects, needs like traffic improvement, redevelopment of intersections, multilevel parking, green areas, road and pavement improvements, undergrounding of power lines, water management, upgradation of tourism facilities and urban beautification have been given priority.
Will be different from journey to road
It was told in the meeting that for ease of traffic in Meerut, projects like Bijli Bamba Bypass, Link Road, widening from Hapur Adda to Gandhi Ashram, Eastern Kachari Road, Surajkund Square, Qayyam Nagar Park, junction improvement at 19 major intersections, Sanjay Van, water recycling system from Shatabdi Nagar STP to Mohkampur Industrial Area, Smart Road and University Road regional redevelopment are proposed.
“Rooted in Legacy, Rising to Tomorrow”
Regarding Kanpur, it was told that the basis of development will be the concept of “Rooted in Legacy, Rising to Tomorrow”. Mainawati Marg widening, multilevel parking, construction of master plan roads, urban design improvements around Green Park, Maqsoodabad City Forest, Botanical Garden, VIP Road, Riverfront Link, Greenfield Corridor, Metro extension and vision of new expansion area in the form of Greater Kanpur are included in this plan.
Master plan presented for Mathura-Vrindavan
Under the master plan presented for Mathura-Vrindavan, the strategy to develop the city in the form of ‘Vision-2030’ was discussed. It was informed in the meeting that for the convenience of devotees and tourists, the plan includes street facade development, multi-level parking, bus parking, beautification of entrances, construction of new routes, improvement of Barsana-Govardhan-Radhakund corridor, facilities on Parikrama Marg and signage and lighting from the city entry to religious places.
Instructions to officers to adopt PPP mode
The Chief Minister said that attention should be given to innovation, better management and financial coordination for these projects. He directed the officials to seek private sector cooperation on revenue sharing model and adopt PPP mode wherever possible. He said the objective of the development is to create an urban fabric that facilitates transportation, gives priority to pedestrians and public transport, moves towards green cities and strengthens local identity. He said that if additional budget is required for the projects, it will be made available.
