PM Modi and Vladimir Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin is on a tour of India these days. On the second day of the tour, on December 5, 2025, an important deal was signed between the two countries on many sectors, in which agreement was reached on many issues including agriculture, shipping, fertilizer, medical education. Both the countries also mentioned that the trade mark of hundred billion dollars will be completed by the year 2030. Let us understand in detail in which sectors PM Modi and Putin have agreed for trade and services.
Putin thanked Modi for the face-to-face talks, noting the importance of strategic dialogue. He said that he regularly talks to Modi on phone and maintains constant dialogue on key issues. Putin described the outcome as a solid package of agreements, which reflects the breadth of Russia-India cooperation.
Free trade agreement will happen soon!
Apart from this, in the joint press meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India and Russia have confirmed a plan to increase cooperation in strategic areas of their economies. He said that today President Putin and I will get the opportunity to participate in the India-Russia Business Forum. I am confident that this platform will give new strength to our business relations. This will also open new doors for export, co-production and co-innovation. Both sides are making efforts for early conclusion of the FTA with the Eurasian Economic Union.
Deal made on these sectors
India and Russia labor activity: People from India will go to Russia to work. Besides, two MoUs have been signed regarding health education i.e. medical education, food safety, shipping and transport. Also, discussions have taken place between the two countries on fertiliser, custom matters and postal service. A joint declaration will be issued between India and Russia. Also, both the countries have emphasized on the joint economic vision- 2030.
Will produce urea together
The country has also signed a deal with Russian President Putin regarding urea, the main fertilizer used in the agricultural sector. Prime Minister Modi said that both the countries will jointly produce urea. Along with this, he further said that the world has seen many changes in the last 8 decades but India and Russia have remained constant and are getting stronger. Energy security is an important part of the relations between India and Russia. India and Russia will strengthen cooperation in the Arctic, shipping, critical minerals and shipbuilding. New Indian embassies will be opened in Russia.
Tourist visa will be available for free
Prime Minister Modi has given a statement in the press statement regarding Arctic cooperation and joint ship building. PM has announced free 30 days tourist visa for Russian citizens. I am confident that in the times to come, our friendship will give us the strength to face global challenges and this confidence will further enrich our common future. PM Modi said that we welcome all efforts for peace in Ukraine.
100 billion dollars will be traded
After talking to PM Modi, Putin said that the talks with India were held in a good and friendly atmosphere. Russia and India can increase trade turnover by $100 billion. Russia is ready to continue fuel supply to India without interruption. Moscow and New Delhi are working on a free trade agreement between India and the Eurasian Economic Union. We have made many agreements regarding security and economy. The figure of 100 billion dollars will definitely be achieved in trade by 2030. The PM has given a huge list of what problems are being faced in mutual trade, we will pay our attention to it. Russia is a ‘reliable supplier’ of oil, coal and gas and is ready to provide ‘uninterrupted supply’ of energy to India.
