Akhilesh Yadav has given such a statement regarding lighting lamps and candles on Diwali, which has created controversy. BJP has accused him of spreading anti-Hindu ideology.

What did Akhilesh Yadav say about Diwali and Deepotsav?

While talking to the media at the Samajwadi Party office in Lucknow, a journalist asked Akhilesh Yadav a question on Ayodhya Deepotsav. The journalist asked that this time candles will be lit in Ayodhya instead of lamps and their number has also been reduced, what is your opinion on this?

To this Akhilesh Yadav replied, “Although I do not want to give opinion on this, but I definitely want to say one thing in the name of Lord Ram.” He further gave the example of Christmas and said, “During Christmas, cities all over the world get illuminated, the lights remain on for months. We should learn from them. Why should we spend so much on lamps and candles? When the SP government comes, we will get very beautiful lights done.”

BJP targeted, politics heated up over political statement

BJP immediately reacted to Akhilesh Yadav’s statement. BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala said, “The same people who opposed the Ram temple, opened fire on Ram devotees, are now raising questions on Diwali decorations.” Poonawala further said that Akhilesh Yadav’s statement shows that SP still stands against the tradition of Ram and Diwali.

This statement of Akhilesh Yadav has become a topic of discussion from social media to political forums. BJP is calling it an attack on Hindu sentiments, while SP supporters are saying it is an attempt to misrepresent it.
