This weekend, the Ministers of State have a job at hand – to aid and help the people of flood-affected regions in four states, namely Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir.
While the party is coordinating it, national general secretary Tarun Chugh has been tasked with ensuring that ministers reach the areas most impacted. Ministers will be representing the government and also intend to be with people in distress.
This is in stark contrast to what opposition parties and their leaders did. The leader of opposition came under sharp attack for vacationing in a foreign land when north India struggles with floods.
According to the sources, the ministers will have to reside in the area and ensure relief operations for two days.
There are 16 MoS who are deployed in Punjab. In Himachal Pradesh is being visited by 6 MoS.
Jammu and Kashmir is being visited by 6 Mos and 6 MoS are going to support flood-hit region people in Haryana.
To name a few of those visiting these states are Sanjay Seth, Harsh Malhotra and BL Verma is going to be in Punjab.
Dr Jitendra Singh, Krishna Pal Gujjar and Sripad Naik is going to be on J&K.
Ajay Tamta and Sukanta Majumdar are in Himachal Pradesh. Whereas Pankaj Chaudhary and Kamlesh Paswan are in Haryana.
This is also being seen as an attempt by the Modi government to show people that ministers work for the whole country even at ground level and government is listening and helping people in need.
Prime Minister himself had visited Uttarakhand and Punjab that witnessed major devastation due to floods. PM had also announced financial assistance of Rs 1200 crore for flood and rain-affected areas in Uttarakhand whereas Rs 2 lakh ex- gratia announced for families of those who lost their loved ones.
