From Ben Johns to Anna Bright, Pickleball’s Finest Head to Vietnam for PPA Tour Asia

The Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) Tour Asia-Vietnam is set to be held in Da Nang from September 30 to October 4, 2025. The historic tournament will take place at the Tien Son Sports Centre, drawing around 120 professional players, including top stars from the US, alongside 1,000 amateur participants.

According to the organisers, fans can expect to see some of the sport’s elite athletes in action, including world No. 1 Ben Johns, Federico Staksrud, Anna Bright, Tyson McGuffin, Tyra Hurricane Black, Zoey Chao Yi Wang, Kaitlyn Christian, and Alix Truong across pro divisions and age categories.

The competition will carry a total prize purse of $150,000. Beyond the prize money, the tournament offers valuable world ranking points, giving players an opportunity to climb higher with strong performances.

The event follows the success of the Vietnam Open 2025, where Phuc Huynh captured the title, further boosting the nation’s pickleball profile. Building on this momentum, Da Nang has launched the city’s first Pickleball Association, adding the sport to its official development programme. Earlier this year, the city also hosted the VTV8-La Queenara Cup, a community international pickleball tournament that attracted over 100 participants.

Pickleball, a fast-growing racquet sport blending elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis, originated in Washington, US, 59 years ago. Since being introduced to Vietnam in 2018, it has steadily gained popularity, with the PPA Tour’s arrival marking a new milestone in the country’s sporting journey.
