A to Z: Most searched keywords in India in 2025

A stands for Aneet Padda and Ahaan Pandey: Stars of hit romantic film ‘Sayyara’ join top trending entertainment personalities. The film became number 1 in the top trending movie searches of 2025, while its title track was the most searched song of the year. Additionally, the title track of ‘Sayyara’, ‘Sayyara’, was also the third most popular song among the listeners in Spotify Wrapped 2025.

B means Brian Johnson on Nikhil Kamath’s podcast: #1 trending podcast search. The walkout mid-show due to poor air quality sparked national attention, and “air quality near me” was also trending among “near me” queries. Since Nikhil Kamath also featured Elon Musk on his show a few days ago, it wouldn’t surprise anyone to see his podcast on the list next year.

C stands for Ceasefire: #1 trending “meaning” query. As searches for “what is ceasefire” picked up, people also searched meanings of topics like mock drills, stampedes and viral slang like “pookie”, “5201314” and “nones”.

D means Dharmendra: An emotional tribute to the late veteran. As fans celebrated his cinematic legacy following his demise at the age of 89 on November 24, 2025, the actor ranked #10 top overall search and #2 news event.

E means earthquake near me: Trending No. 1 in “Near Me” searches. In moments of uncertainty, Indians turned to Google.

F stands for Final Destination and floodlighting: A mix of adventure and trend. Final Destination Bloodlines, released this May, topped international movie searches. “Floodlighting” became the No. 1 dating word of the year. What it basically means is to put a shock on your new date in the hopes that it will lead to an immediate feeling of intimacy.

G stands for Google Gemini: The year when AI went mainstream. Google Gemini was the second top overall search, with growing curiosity for DeepSeek, Perplexity, ChatGPT, Google AI Studio and Flow – all reflecting India’s deeper dive into digital intelligence.
