India’s Yuki Bhambri and America’s Robert Galloway made their way through to the third round of men’s doubles in the French Open 2025 after pulling off a stunning victory over seventh seeds Nikola Mektic and Michael Venus.
On Friday, May 30, the Indo-American duo won their second round match 6-7(4), 7-6(7), 6-3 in two hours and 32 minutes at Roland Garros.
Bhambri and Galloway started their campaign with a 6-3 6-7(8) 6-3 win over Robin Haase and Hendrik Jebens in the first round before taking down Mektic and Venus. In the third round, they will be up against the American duo of Christian Harrison and Evan King. Harrison and King had a dominating second round where they beat Manuel Guinard and Romain Arneodo 6-4, 6-0.
Rohan Bopanna advances
In another doubles match, Rohan Bopanna and Adam Pavlasek from Czechia rallied back from a set down to beat the French duo of Fabien Reboul and Sadio Doumbia. In two hours and 10 minutes, they won the match 6-7 (2-7), 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.
In the third round, Bopanna and Pavlasek will lock horns with Henry Patten from the United Kingdom and Harri Heliovaara from Finland. Patten and Heliovaara will go into the match after beating Gabriel Diallo and Jacob Fearnley 6-2, 6-3.
Earlier on May 28, India’s N Sriram Balaji booked his berth in the second round of men’s doubles in the clay-court major. Balaji and Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela from Mexico defeated Camilo Ugo Carbelli and Yunchaokete Bu 6-2, 6-1.
Balaji and Reyes-Varela will be up against the fourth-seeded Italian pair of Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori in their second-round match on Saturday, May 31.
