New Delhi: The Rouse Avenue Court on Saturday granted bail to former MLA Alka Lamba. He is accused in a case of alleged violation of prohibition. The court has taken cognizance of the charge sheet filed against him. She appeared in the Rouse Avenue Court after a bailable warrant against her due to her absence. Earlier, the court issued summons to him after taking cognizance of the charge sheet against him.
She did not appear in court on two occasions and demanded exemption. Subsequently, the court issued a bailable warrant against him on 24 September. Additional Chief Judicial (ACJM) Vaibhav Chaurasia granted bail to Alka Lamba and directed the prosecution to give a copy of the charge sheet to him. The court has fixed October 15 to hear the debate on the charge in the case. The case is related to the alleged violation of the prohibition during a protest at Jantar Mantar demanding the implementation of women’s reservation before the 2024 general election. In 2024, an FIR was lodged against him at Parliament Street Police Station.
