Bhubaneswar: Former Mayurbhanj MP Ramchandra Hansdah has formally joined ,saying he was inspired by the party’s ideology and policies.
Along with his supporters, Hansdah joined the party in the presence of Odisha Congress in-charge Lalji Desai and Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Bhakta Charan Das.
Speaking after joining the party, Hansdah thanked the Congress leadership for warmly welcoming him and his supporters.
‘I thank the Congress party for welcoming me and my colleagues with enthusiasm,’ he said.
Hansdah said he had previously worked for the rights of tribal communities and would continue to fight for their interests in the future.
He said his views were in line with the Congress ideology and expressed his resolve to strengthen the party’s organisational base in Mayurbhanj.
‘Our aim is to strengthen the Congress in Mayurbhanj and further strengthen the hands of the OPCC president,’ Hansdah said.
Meanwhile, OPCC president Bhakta Charan Das said the latest development would pave the way for a political upheaval in Mayurbhanj.
He expressed confidence that the Congress would emerge stronger and more active in the district in the coming days.
