A newly-married couple in Ahmedabad were injured in a terrifying attack by the woman’s ex-lover. The accused, Subhash Patel from Himmatnagar, allegedly entered the couple’s car and stabbed the husband multiple times in Jagatpur on Friday and then fled the scene.
As per an FIR filed with the Chandkheda police station by Janvi Patel, a resident of SP Ring Road in Vaishnodevi Circle, she got married to Sharad, a project manager at a firm in VyasVadi, 10 days ago. The couple had recently arranged to book a new flat and were settling into their married life when on Friday evening, they got a call from a builder, Kashyap Patel. The builder wanted to discuss their flat booking and asked them to visit the site in Jagatpur.
During the call, Kashyap informed Sharad that Subhash was with him. Janvi, in her complaint, said Subhash was her ex-lover.
The couple reached Jagatpur in their car, but before the meeting at the site, Sharad stopped the car near a paan shop to buy a cigarette. As he returned to the vehicle, Subhash suddenly entered the rear seat of the car without their notice and pulled out a knife and began stabbing Sharad repeatedly.
Sharad suffered injuries on his neck, jaw, hand and back. In a bid to save her husband, Janvi intervened and injured her hand.
Hearing Janvi’s screams, locals rushed towards the car, forcing Subhash to flee the scene. The injured couple were rushed in their own car to Zydus Hospital, where Sharad got more than 30 stitches. He was discharged after treatment.
Police have registered a complaint of assault and criminal intimidation against Subhash and are scanning CCTV footage of the area and recording witness statements to trace the accused.
