Marc Márquez is a rider who has his own very aggressive riding style most of the time, and that’s a brand image he’s created over the years that’s a little different from the one Álex Márquez has on the track.
The youngest of the clan spoke about his brother on Antena 3 (Spanish), quoted by Motosan, emphasising precisely the difference between the two and even recalling what happened on the track years ago: ‘For him, going slow is to «go in at full throttle». When I was in Moto2 and Moto3 I used to say to myself: «Enter slowly». I would enter slowly, losing 0.3s, 0.5s. I’d go in slowly, but then I wouldn’t recover’, with Marc laughingly replying: ‘«So you go out as you can»’.
With several years in MotoGP already under his belt, all of them while in the top category with Honda, Marc saw the Repsol Honda Team as a family, but Álex, who is in his second year with Gresini, recalled a recent episode in the Italian team’s garage that illustrates the friendly atmosphere there, related to Marc’s birthday while in Losail: ‘He turned 31, we were in Qatar and with the team we gave him some anti-wrinkle creams, because after 30 you have to take care of yourself’.
