IndiGo, India’s largest and leading low-cost airline, is tightening its European game. The airline just expanded its codeshare agreement with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, giving travellers access to as many as 30 destinations across Europe and the UK, all routed via Amsterdam.
What’s Changing
Starting August 11, 2025, IndiGo passengers can book one ticket from India to cities like Paris, Berlin, London, Geneva, and more, all while flying partly on KLM’s extensive network.
The codeshare means you’ll get through check-in of baggage, smoother connections, and a unified booking experience, even if you’re hopping across multiple carriers.
This builds on their original 2022 agreement, which gave KLM travellers access to 24 Indian destinations via IndiGo. Now the benefits flow both ways, with IndiGo placing its code on key European routes operated by KLM.

Amsterdam Now a Bigger Hub for IndiGo Flyers
Here’s the other big development: IndiGo recently launched its nonstop service from Mumbai to Amsterdam, using a leased Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner from Norse Atlantic.
This long-haul addition not only expands IndiGo’s European footprint but also cements Amsterdam as a key transit point for its international operations.
Tapping Into a Bigger Network
This isn’t happening in isolation. Back in June 2025, at the 81st IATA AGM, IndiGo joined hands with KLM, Air France, Delta Air Lines, and Virgin Atlantic to build a joint partnership. The idea? Make travel between India, Europe, North America, and the UK feel less like a multi-leg puzzle and more like a single, cohesive trip.
The expanded codeshare is one piece of that strategy, giving travellers more flexibility, especially as international demand surges.
Why It Matters for Travellers
- More European cities: Cities now accessible through the codeshare include Madrid, Brussels, Oslo, Prague, Helsinki, and Stockholm, among others.
- Streamlined travel: Book on IndiGo’s website or app starting August 1, 2025, and you’ll be able to check your bag to your final destination.
- One-stop options: With Amsterdam as the main transfer hub, connections should be relatively straightforward, thanks to Schiphol’s well-developed transit infrastructure.
What the Airlines Are Saying
IndiGo’s CEO Pieter Elbers called the deal a step forward in the airline’s international growth plans, emphasising the importance of “seamless global connectivity” and deeper trade and tourism ties between India and Europe.
KLM’s CEO Marjan Rintel echoed that sentiment, saying the agreement “connects people and opportunities across continents” while giving IndiGo passengers more flexibility across KLM’s European network.
Final Thoughts
If you’re planning travel between India and Europe (or the UK) in the coming months, this expanded partnership could mean more choices, better itineraries, and less hassle. Just make sure you book through IndiGo’s official channels starting August 1.
