Things worse in 1400 villages of Punjab

Heavy rains and floods in Punjab have killed 43 people so far. According to the state government, about 1655 villages have been affected in total. Of these, 324 villages are completely submerged in Gurdaspur district. Apart from this, Amritsar (190), Kapurthala (123), Hoshiarpur (121), Ferozepur (111) and Sangrur (107) are. At the same time, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan visited flood affected areas in Gurdaspur, Punjab on Thursday. He said that 1400 villages of the state are badly affected due to floods and the situation here is very serious.

Government will assess the loss

Farmers said that about 1500 acres of paddy crop was destroyed due to Dandi Kadam of Jalalabad tehsil of Fazilka and Sutlej river water in Dhani Natha Singh villages.

Demand for compensation amount to Rs 8 lakh per person

The Chief Minister of Punjab has requested the Central Government to issue ₹ 60,000 crore immediately as additional disaster relief from the central government. At the same time, the compensation norms for crop loss have been changed to make it ₹ 50,000 per acre and doubled the ex -gratia amount for flood deaths to ₹ 8 lakh per person.

Uttarakhand: 90 people missing from flood so far

The state government has given official information about 79 people killed, 115 injured and disappearance of 90 people since the beginning of the monsoon (1 April to 31 August) this year. Floods and landslides in Uttarakhand have damaged infrastructure worth more than 1944 crores, due to which adequate relief amount has been demanded from the Central Relief Fund. The landslides have repeatedly killed people, including at least 2 deaths on Kedarnath road on 1 September and injuries of 6. Floods have been the biggest impact in Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri and Bageshwar districts. Houses, commercial establishments and schools have been destroyed here.

Uttarakhand: State government sought relief amount of 5702 crore

At the same time, the Uttarakhand government has formally requested a relief package of ₹ 5,702 crore from the Center. This amount will help displaced and affected families along with over 2,800 pucca houses, schools, roads, livestock and loss of significant infrastructure.

Jammu and Kashmir: Wular lake in Bandipora above danger mark

Jammu and Kashmir was flooded on the Jammu-Srinagar highway on Thursday due to heavy rains and landslides, causing the contact of the valley to the rest of the country. In Ramban district of Jammu, 283 houses were completely destroyed due to heavy rains. At the same time, 950 people have been taken out safely from this district. The water level of Wular lake in Bandipora, Kashmir has crossed the danger mark to 1578 meters. At the same time, due to the rise in the water level of Jhelum river, there is danger in the surrounding villages. So far more than 20 people have died in the state.

The situation is not clear yet

Jammu and Kashmir has given details about losses and compensation, the details of which were introduced during the Central Team’s assessment tour. The state government is seeking assistance for widespread damage in roads, housing, power supply and agricultural sectors. The Inter-Ministic team of the center will visit the affected areas before approving the compensation amount and assess the loss. The compensation amount is mainly provided under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).
