Flight Ticket Price Hike: After massive flight delays and cancellations of IndiGo, spot ticket prices are skyrocketing on all major routes in the country. Delhi-Mumbai ticket has reached Rs 50,000. Tickets have become record breaking expensive even on non-metro routes.
Flight Ticket Price Today: The Central Government may have given relief to IndiGo from the new rules of Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL), but there is still no good news for those booking flight tickets. Spot ticket prices have reached record levels on many major routes of the country. The impact of IndiGo’s continuous service disruption, flight cancellations and delays is now visible on almost every airline. The result is that a day ticket on high-demand routes like Delhi-Mumbai has reached Rs 50,000, that too for airlines like Air India and Akasa Air, which are not directly affected by the disruption.
Delhi-Mumbai flight fare increased
Air India is offering Delhi-Mumbai spot ticket for Rs 48,750. If we look at the tickets after a day, there is definitely some relief, but the average fare of Rs 23,000 is still much higher than normal. This is happening because a large number of IndiGo flights are being disrupted and cancelled, suddenly the demand on other airlines has increased. There is high-demand for the limited seats and there has been a huge jump in the spot price.
Delhi-Bengaluru flight fares also increased
According to a news from NDTV, LocalCircles founder Sachin Taparia shared a screenshot, in which the Delhi-Bengaluru ticket is shown to be Rs 43,145, which is from Air India. Meaning every metro route is facing high price shock.
Delhi-Kolkata flight ticket rate high
Inflation is not only on big routes, but the situation is even worse on non-metro and less popular routes. Talking about Delhi to Kolkata flight, the fare of SpiceJet is Rs 39,000. At the same time, the journey from Kolkata to Guwahati takes 10 hours and the fare has reached Rs 1.32 lakh. These routes would never have been this expensive in normal times, but the disruption has shaken up the market.
Troubles for couples increased during honeymoon season
December-January is considered the peak travel and honeymoon season in India. But currently the fare from Mumbai-Port Blair (Andaman) is Rs 42,000, there is no direct flight till Delhi-Goa and the fastest flight is taking the whole day, the fare is also up to Rs 31,000. This is having a huge impact on the pockets of those visiting tourist destinations.
