Tirupati: A man reportedly murdered his wife and mother in Venkatakrishnapalem, Narayanavanam Mandal of Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, April 23.
The man identified as Mohan, subsequently fled the scene on his motorcycle with his two children and all three of them were later found dead near the railway tracks in Vepagunta, Puttur Mandal.
Mohan strangles mother, wife with dupatta:
An investigation into the murders established that Mohan, had killed his mother and his wife, Haritha, 33, and Chandrakala, 65 by strangling them with a dupatta.
Following the murders, Mohan fled on his motorcycle with his two children, CCTV footage showed. After riding around the Chittoor and Tirupati districts with the children on his two-wheeler, Mohan stopped his vehicle near the Vepagunta railway station in Puttur Mandal at 7:15 PM and walked with the children toward the railway tracks.
While trying to dissuade their father from committing suicide on the tracks, Mohan and his children, Kaushik, 14, Harini, 12, were struck and killed by the Egmore-Kacheguda Express—approaching at a speed of 100 kmph.
Officials have preliminarily confirmed that the murders were caused due to a family dispute and Mohan’s mental health.
The Narayanavanam police have registered a case in the double murder. Meanwhile, the Railway Police have registered a case concerning the deaths of the father and his two children and have initiated an investigation.
