In a first show of unity after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the leaders of the opposition INDIA bloc will be meeting on August 7 in New Delhi for dinner.
The gathering is scheduled at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s residence – 5, Sunehri Bagh road.. This comes amid a standoff on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) issue in the Monsoon Session of Parliament,

The INDIA bloc party leaders will hold a dinner meeting on August 7 to discuss their strategy on the SIR issue. Confirming the same, Congress MP KC Venugopal said, “The INDIA bloc leaders are set to meet on August 7 in the national capital amid their demands to hold a Parliamentary discussion on the ongoing SIR exercise in Bihar ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. There will be a get-together on August 7 in Delhi.”
The meeting also comes as the election for the post of Vice President is due. The opposition may discuss if to field a joint candidate for the post.
The opposition parties had also planned to take out a march to the office of the Election Commission of India on August 8, however, it has been rescheduled to August 11. The march was rescheduled after the death of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren.
MP Reveals Opposition’s Agenda Behind Dinner Meeting
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, August 6, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut revealed that the agendas for the meeting include Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “lies”, Operation Sindoor and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar.
“There are many agendas, including the current situation in the country, Modi’s lies, Pahalgam attack, Operation Sindoor and Bihar SIR,” Raut was quoted as saying by ANI.
