Diwali celebrated in Mahakal temple
Thousands of devotees gathered in the court of Baba Mahakal during the Bhasma Aarti on Monday morning on the Chaturdashi of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. During this time, devotees stood in line since late night to have darshan of their favorite deity Baba Mahakal. Today Baba Mahakal also woke up at 4 in the morning to give darshan to the devotees. The entire temple complex also resonated with the echo of Jai Shri Mahakal.
Pandit Mahesh Sharma, priest of Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple, said that Bhasma Aarti was performed today at 4 am on Monday morning on Roop Chaturdashi, the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month, in the world famous Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple. During this, as soon as the doors of the temple opened after taking permission from Virbhadra ji, the Pandey priests worshiped the idols of all the Gods installed in the sanctum sanctorum. After which Jalabhishek of Lord Mahakal was done with milk, curd, ghee, sugar, Panchamrit and fruit juice.

During the puja, Hari Om water was offered by ringing the first bell. During this time, the priests and priests decorated Baba Mahakal in divine form and after the Kapoor Aarti, Baba Mahakal was made to wear a new crown along with Rudraksha and Mund rosary. After which ashes were offered on behalf of Mahanirvani Akhara on the Shivalinga of Lord Mahakal. The specialty of today’s makeup was that today Baba Mahakal’s makeup was done by applying ubtan.

Devotees who came in large numbers for Bhasma Aarti took the blessings of Baba Mahakal. It is believed that after offering ashes, God appears in formless form. This time it is becoming a great coincidence of Kartik Krishna Chaturdashi date. At 4 am in the morning during Bhasma Aarti, the priest applied saffron sandalwood paste to Lord Mahakal and bathed him with hot water. After this, special adornment will be done with new clothes, gold and silver jewellery. Aarti was performed with sparklers after offering traditional fifty-six types of dishes to the Lord in Annakoot. A grand rangoli was made in the Mahakaleshwar temple complex on Diwali.
Rangoli made in 500000 square feet
Under this unique artistic initiative, attractive rangoli has been created in approximately 50,000 square feet area. In this huge rangoli making work, a team of 10 artists under the direction of Kunj Bihari Pandey along with 20 artists from ‘The Sketchers’ and ‘Kala Manch Ujjaini’ under the leadership of Pankaj Sahra, under the guidance of Assistant Administrator Ashish Phalwadia, jointly demonstrated their artistic talent. The view of this grand rangoli has been captured with a drone. This rangoli remains the center of attraction.
Ban on fireworks in temple premises
Following Ujjain Police instructions, fireworks have been banned in the temple premises. On the occasion of Diwali, as per tradition, only one sparkler was lit during the Aarti. Earlier, firecrackers were burnt anywhere in the campus. However, now this rule has been banned for the safety of the devotees. There is a ban on fireworks of any kind in the sanctum sanctorum, Koti Teerth Kund, temple premises and Shri Mahakal Mahalok area.
