The death of a female doctor in Satara district of Maharashtra has shaken the entire state. The doctor’s body was found hanging in a hotel in Phaltan, and now this suicide case has put power, system and sensitivity in the dock. The names written in the suicide note have shaken the foundation of the police administration.
First arrest in Satara doctor suicide case
Satara Police has made the first arrest in the doctor suicide case. Police have detained Prashant Bankar, son of the doctor’s landlord. A case of rape and abetment to suicide has been registered against him. The doctor had the allegations written on his own hands – software engineer Prashant Bankar has been accused of mental harassment.
Sub-inspector accused of rape, names of MP and two PAs also surfaced
The doctor had also written the name of Sub-Inspector Gopal Badne on his palm. It is alleged that he raped the doctor four times in the last five months. Not only this, he is also accused of pressurizing the accused to make fake fitness certificates. Taking cognizance of this matter, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered the SP of Satara to suspend the accused policeman.
During the investigation, the police have also found a four-page suicide note, in which the names of an MP and his two personal assistants are mentioned. The doctor wrote that both the PAs of the MP had come to the hospital and were pressurizing him to make fake medical fitness certificates for some accused related to the case. The doctor also wrote that when she refused, the MP himself called her.

Doctor’s relatives made sensational allegations
The doctor’s cousin revealed that the deceased was being pressurized to change the postmortem report and manipulate the medical report. He had earlier also given a written complaint to the SP and DSP, but no action was taken. Family members claim that the doctor was mentally broken for several days and had also complained about harassment to her senior doctors.
Dead body found in hotel room, his pain was written on his hand
According to the police, the doctor had booked a room in a hotel in Phaltan. When the hotel staff knocked on the door and got no response from inside, the door was opened with another key. The doctor was found hanging inside. A suicide note was recovered from the spot and the body has been sent for postmortem.
Heat in politics, attack from opposition
This case has created a stir in the political circles. Statements of many big leaders have come in this suicide case.
- Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant Said that the law and order situation of the state has completely deteriorated.
- Women Commission Chairperson Rupali Chakankar Ordered the police to take strict action.
- Minister Pankaja Munde Said that there should be a fair investigation while avoiding media trial.
- Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Sushma Andhare Has demanded an independent SIT investigation.
- BJP leader Chitra Wagh Said that the government is ready to provide all possible help, and all women should immediately complain on the 112 helpline.
- Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar Said, “Who will give justice when the protector becomes the predator?”
- NCP leader Anand Paranjape Demanded hearing in fast track court.
