FIR, Suspension, Compensation: Yogi Adityanath Govt Cracks Down After Youth’s Death In Open Drain In Lucknow

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday suspended a junior engineer and directed officials to issue a show cause notice to an assistant engineer in connection with the death of a man who fell into an uncovered drain during heavy rains in Lucknow’s Thakurganj area.

The Chief minister Office said, ” CM Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep condolences on the painful death of a youth due to falling into a drain in the Thakurganj area of ​​Lucknow. He has ordered to suspend the Junior Engineer (JE) immediately, issue a show cause notice to the Assistant Engineer (AE) and provide financial assistance of a total of Rs 9 lakh (Rs 5 lakh from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Rs 4 lakh from Disaster Relief Fund) to the victim’s family. He has also ordered the registration of an FIR against the concerned construction agency to ensure punishment for negligence. He said that this is not just an accident, but a serious lapse in the administrative system, which needs to be rectified immediately. The state government is taking such incidents very seriously, and it will be ensured that such unfortunate recurrences do not happen in future.”

 

 

DCP Lucknow West, Vishwajeet Srivastava, says, “A youth named Suresh died during the rainy season. Today, his body has been recovered from the junction between the Gomti River and a drain. The SDRF and Thakurganj police station team have recovered it with great difficulty. The councillor of the ward where this happened has been nabbed. An FIR has been lodged against him, stating that the contractor of the cleaning firm failed to perform the work properly, leading to this incident. An FIR has been filed against the contractor too.”
