‘Finger on trigger’: Iran warns Israeli strikes in Lebanon threaten ceasefire

New Delhi: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has hit out at Israel’s latest strikes in Lebanon, calling them a clear breach of the current ceasefire. He warned that these military actions are making ongoing negotiations effectively pointless, as tensions in the region continue to rise.

In a post on social media, he said, “Israel’s renewed incursion into Lebanon is a blatant violation of the initial ceasefire agreement. This is a dangerous sign of deception and lack of commitment to potential agreements.”

Pezeshkia added, “The continuation of these actions will render negotiations meaningless.” He also issued a strong warning of providing support for Lebanon as he said, “Our fingers remain on the trigger. Iran will never abandon its Lebanese sisters and brothers.”

Pezeshkian’s remark came after U.S. President Donald Trump had agreed “to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks” on Thursday.
