There is a tussle between BJP and JDU regarding the formation of new government in Bihar. There is a dispute over the Home Department and the post of Speaker, to resolve which Amit Shah is in Patna. Nitish Kumar will be elected leader in the NDA legislature party meeting today.
After the landslide victory in the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, the exercise to form a new government under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is at a crucial juncture today. There is a tussle between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal United (JDU) regarding the Speaker of the Assembly and the Home Department. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is reaching Patna today (Wednesday) to find a solution to both these issues. Sources say that along with the Home Department, JDU is also demanding the post of Assembly Speaker and one of the two Deputy CMs, for which BJP is not ready yet.
Dispute over Speaker and Home Department
At present, there is a sharp tussle going on in the NDA regarding the balance of power, which has two main points. First, the Home Department, till now this department has been with JDU and only Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been looking after it. But now BJP wants to take it for itself. Second is the post of Assembly Speaker, this post is also with BJP till now, but JDU is now staking its claim on this post also.
Along with these two posts (Home Department and Speaker), JDU is also strengthening its claim on one of the two Deputy CM posts. At the same time, BJP sources say that the party is in no mood to leave the post of Assembly Speaker. JDU leaders Lalan Singh and Sanjay Jha have already presented their stand on this issue before BJP President JP Nadda in Delhi. This issue will be discussed in detail before Amit Shah today and the final solution will be found.
NDA legislative party meeting will be held today
There is a meeting of the NDA legislature party in Patna today (Wednesday), in which Nitish Kumar will be elected the leader and the strategy for swearing in will be decided. Apart from this, a separate meeting of BJP legislature party has also been called. In this meeting, the names of the legislative party leader and the Deputy CM will be finalized in the presence of observers appointed by the Center (Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya and Union Ministers Arjun Ram Meghwal, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti). After completion of all the processes, the claim for government formation will be presented before the Governor.
Possible formula for cabinet division
A total of 36 ministers can be made in Bihar. According to sources, this time BJP wants to come into the role of elder brother. About 14 ministers can be made from the BJP quota, in which the names of senior and young faces like Samrat Chaudhary, Nitin Naveen, Mangal Pandey, Ramkripal Yadav, Sanjeev Chaurasia, Sanjay Saraogi, Jibesh Mishra, Hari Sahni, Vijay Sinha are in discussion. At the same time, about 13 ministers (apart from the Chief Minister) will be made from JDU, which may include Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Shravan Kumar, Ashok Chaudhary, Leshi Singh, Jama Khan, Madan Sahni, Jayant Raj, Sunil Kumar, Umesh Kushwaha, Kaladhar Mandal, Rahul Singh, Panna Lal Singh Patel and some new names.
LJP (Ram Vilas) has three possible ministerial posts for which the names of Sanjay Paswan, Raju Tiwari, Sanjay Singh etc. are there. Jitan Ram Manjhi’s son Santosh Suman can become a minister from Ham Party (HAM) quota, while Snehlata Kushwaha, wife of Upendra Kushwaha from RLMO (RLM), has a strong possibility of becoming a minister.
There is a possibility of Vijay Kumar Sinha being given some other big responsibility in BJP instead of Deputy CM. At the same time, LJP (R) can also present its claim for the post of Deputy CM in front of Amit Shah today. Jama Khan can be made a minister from minority quota.
