Bangladesh has decided to boycott the ICC T20 World Cup to be held in India. Following Mustafizur Rahman’s IPL controversy, ICC has rejected his demand to shift the matches to Sri Lanka, citing security reasons.
Dhaka: Bangladesh has announced to boycott the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. Bangladesh was adamant that it would not go to India to play the prestigious T20 World Cup and despite the ICC deadline, it has boycotted the tournament. The Bangladesh government has officially announced that the Bangladeshi team will not tour India to play the T20 World Cup. Bangladesh Cricket Board President Aminul Islam Bulbul said, ‘We are continuously talking to the ICC. We are ready to play the ICC T20 World Cup, just don’t want to play in India. Our fight on this will continue. Some surprising decisions were taken in the ICC board meeting. Exclusion of Mustafizur Rahman from IPL is not an isolated matter. This was a unilateral decision of India.

ICC has rejected our demand to shift our matches from India to somewhere else. We also know what is happening in world cricket. The popularity of cricket is decreasing. They have arrested 20 crore people. Cricket is going to the Olympics. But if a country like ours does not go there, it will be a failure of the ICC, Aminul Islam said.
Before announcing this decision, the Bangladesh Cricket Board held talks with Bangladesh’s interim sports advisor and made the final announcement through the media.

BCCI had directed Kolkata Knight Riders to remove Mustafizur Rahman from the team due to security reasons. After this the KKR franchise released Mustafizur.
