Fin Allen smashes fastest century in T20 World Cup history, breaks Chris Gayle’s record

New Delhi: New Zealand opener Finn Allen went all guns blazing in his side’s semifinal clash against South Africa on Wednesday as he smashed the fastest century in T20 World Cup history. The Kiwi opener scored an unbeaten 100 off just 33 balls to break Chris Gayle’s record and power his team into the final of the T20 World Cup 2026.

Allen’s explosive ton was laced with eight sixes and ten fours as he made a mockery of the quality South African bowling attack in the semifinal alongside his opening partner, Tim Seifert, who smashed 58 off 33 balls. Allen completed his century with a six off Marco Jansen on the penultimate delivery of the 13th over, while also taking New Zealand home. With his 33-ball century, he broke Gayle’s record for the fastest ton in the T20 World Cup. The West Indies legend scored a 47-ball hundred against England in Mumbai in the T20 World Cup 2016.
