‘Filmistan Studio’ of Mukherjee family sold, now 3000 crore luxury apartment

A historical place related to Bollywood’s famous actress Kajol and Rani Mukherjee is now going to be transformed. Filmistan Studio, which was created by his grandfather Shomu Mukherjee’s father, is now going to be transformed into a luxury real estate project. This studio is 82 years old and has witnessed Bollywood’s ‘Golden Era’.

This historical property will be converted into a posh residential project in Mumbai under a big deal of Rs 3,000 crore. The deal took place between the NDR group and the lotus developers.

Now luxury apartment will be made

Filmistan Studios, which used to be the center of shooting films of veteran celebrities like Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Ashok Kumar and Dev Anand, is now going to be a luxurious house for those who want to live in the most premium location of Mumbai.

Filmistan Studio is now on the verge of becoming history. It was registered on 3 July and now it is going to be converted into a luxury apartment project costing Rs 3000 crore. According to ‘Hindustan Times’ report, Arcade Developers Limited is planning to launch this grand project by 2026. It will have two tall towers with 50 floors, including 3, 4 and 5 BHK flats and penthouse.

This will be the third such studio in Mumbai which will be converted into a multi-story building. Earlier, RK Studio of Chembur and Kamalistan Studios of Jogeshwari have already been converted into residential buildings.

Funding took place from here

Many iconic films were shot in Filmistan Studio, such as ‘Tumsa Nahi Dekha’ and ‘Jagriti’, which also won the Filmfare Award for Best Film. It is here that emotional scenes like wedding and funeral of countless films have been shot. The famous temple set here is still present today, although now it is hidden in dust.

This studio, spread over five acres, also has seven indoor shooting floors and an outdoor location like a garden. It is said that in its establishment, Nizam, Mir Osman Ali Khan of Hyderabad gave financial assistance. Superhit films like Shaheed (1948), Anarkali (1953), Naagin (1954) and Paying Guest (1957) were made here.
