Varanasi. A sensational case of a husband murdering his own wife by brutally strangulating her with a muffler on suspicion of illicit relationship has come to light. The accused husband first murdered his wife by strangulating her with a muffler, then to hide her identity, she badly crushed her head and face with a brick. After the incident, the body was taken to a garden in Kathor village, about 25 kilometers from the house, and hidden in a pile of dry millet.

There was a stir in the area when a woman’s body was found in the garden on Sunday morning. Taking prompt action, the police arrested the accused husband Pradeep Mishra alias Guddu Mishra from near Mahmoodpur Mor in Cholapur on Monday morning. At the behest of the accused, the police recovered a muffler, blood stained brick, mobile phone and auto.

One doubt ruined my life

According to the police, 46-year-old Pradeep Mishra, resident of Sonbarsa village of Chaubepur police station area, is an auto driver. During interrogation, he told that he was married to Lakshmi (26) in the year 2017. He suspected that his wife was having illicit relations with another man. There used to be daily disputes between the two regarding his wife repeatedly talking on mobile.

ADCP Neetu Kadyan said that the accused husband told that after a fight over the phone on Friday, the accused conspired to murder. In the evening, he took his wife to his sister’s in-laws’ house in Ahirauli village of Chandwak police station area. There was another dispute after dinner at night. After this, he took his wife by auto on the pretext of giving her tea and on the way he strangled her to death with a muffler. Later, he took the body to the garden of Kathor village, crushed his head and face with a brick so that it could not be identified, and hid the body in a heap of dry millet and ran away.

Tattoo reveals blind murder

A deaf-mute youth named Sonu Yadav, who had come to the garden to pick millet on Sunday morning, saw a blood-stained body of a woman in the pile of millet. He reached the village nervously and gave complete information in gestures. The police, who reached the information, were having difficulty in identifying the body because the face was badly mutilated. During the investigation, an important clue was found from the tattoos on the woman’s hand – ‘PL’ was written near the heart on one hand and ‘GP’ was written on the other hand. On this basis, the police reached Sonbarsa village and the body was identified as Lakshmi, wife of Pradeep Mishra. The accused has confessed to his crime during the initial interrogation itself. Police is taking further legal action in the matter.
