‘Fight is really more between…’ Sunjay Kapur’s mother’s lawyer makes EXPLOSIVE claims amid Rs 30000 crore estate row

Sunjay Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband, died on June 12 of this year. However, there is currently an internal family dispute over his will following his unexpected death.

Samaira and Kiaan, Karisma’s children, have petitioned the Delhi High Court, claiming that Sunjay’s widowed wife Priya Sachdev appears to have forged his will. The court heard Karisma’s children’s appeal on Wednesday, September 10, asking for a portion of their father’s wealth.

What did Sunjay’s mother’s lawyer say?

Senior advocate Vaibhav Gaggar has now addressed the matter on behalf of Sunjay’s mother Rani Kapur amid the ongoing case. According to him, Karisma and Priya are engaged in a serious battle. Gaggar told ANI, “This fight is really more between Karisma Kapoor and Priya Sachdev whether there is a will or there is no will etc. Rani Kapur does get impacted by it but she will file a response and you will know her stand.”

He added, “Rani Kapur has been made defendant number 3 in her capacity as a class 1 heir of Sanjay Kapur…Now that the matters are coming to court, it would not be appropriate for me to give any further comments. But MrsKapur has been quite unequivocal in what her stand has been. It remains the same.”

Meanwhile, senior advocate Rajiv Nayar, who is representing Priya SachdeKapur, defended her.

What did Priya Sachdev and her lawyer say?

He said that barely days before to bringing the petition, the claimants, who are already trust beneficiaries, received Rs 1,900 crore. Priya said, “It’s not as if these people are left on the streets. I am a widow with a six-year-old child. For 15 years, they were nowhere to be seen.”

Court orders Priya to disclose Sunjay’s assets

The court also ordered Priya to provide a list of all of Sunjay’s assets, both immovable and movable. “Issue notice. Reply in two weeks, rejoinder in a week thereafter. Along with replies, Defendant 1 will file a list of all movable and immovable assets known to Defendant 1. Assets to be declared as of June 12,” the Court ordered.

The Court also asked Priya why she was reluctant to give a copy of the will to Karisma’s children.

In 2003, Karisma and SunjayKapur tied the knot. In 2016, their divorce was finalised. In 2017, he married Priya. Together, they have a son named Azarias. Meanwhile, Priya has a daughter from her first marriage to Vikram Chatwal. Her name is Safira.
