, June 25 – Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has been handed a two-match suspension following a red card received during his team’s 3-1 defeat to Flamengo in the ongoing FIFA Club 2025 . The decision was confirmed by FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee.
Jackson was sent off just four minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute, following a dangerous studs-up tackle on Flamengo’s Ayrton Lucas. It marked the 24-year-old’s second red card in his last four matches.
Initially, Jackson was handed an automatic one-match ban, ruling him out of Chelsea’s upcoming final group-stage match against Espérance Sportive de Tunis on Tuesday. However, after reviewing the , FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee categorized it as “serious foul play”, resulting in an extended suspension.
In an official statement, FIFA said: “Nicolas Jackson has been suspended for two matches for violating Article 14, Paragraph 1 (e) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. The decision is final and is not subject to appeal.”
Following the match, Jackson took to social media to publicly apologize for his conduct.
Should Chelsea progress to the next round-the pre-quarterfinal stage-Jackson will remain ineligible to participate in that match as well.
