Fast bowler Arshdeep Singh secures an elite bowling milestone with a four-wicket haul in New Zealand

Exceptional bowling places Indian pacer in exclusive historic company

Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh delivered an exceptional spell during the first one-day international at Eden Park, claiming four wickets for 70 runs.

This performance placed him alongside legendary predecessors Javagal Srinath and Mohammed Shami as only the third Indian pace bowler to secure a four-wicket haul on New Zealand soil. Srinath previously achieved this milestone twice, while Shami recorded similar figures in 2014.Generating significant movement off the pitch, the left-arm seamer utilized the local wind and bounce effectively. He credited hitting the seam hard for his success when challenging batters with shorter lengths. During the match, he celebrated the dismissal of Kyle Jamieson with a special dance routine dedicated to his partner, Samreen Kaur. While satisfied with his figures, he expressed a lingering desire to capture a fifth wicket to join Anil Kumble in the rare five-wicket club for Indian bowlers playing in this region.

Bowlers dismantle host batting lineup

Supporting the primary attack, Gurnoor Brar took three wickets for 44 runs, while Anshul Kamboj contributed two dismissals. This combined pressure restricted the hosts to just 185 runs in Auckland. Despite brief resistance from Tim Seifert, who scored 38, and Blair Tickner with 34, the batting side failed to build meaningful partnerships. This dominant display highlighted the visiting team’s adaptability to challenging overseas conditions and set a strong tone for the remaining matches.
