The effect of farmer-friendly policies of Yogi government is visible in Uttar Pradesh. There has been a record increase in the purchase of paddy, millet, jowar and maize. So far 1.54 lakh farmers have registered for paddy sale. Farmers are getting paid within 48 hours.
Lucknow. Yogi Adityanath government stands firmly with the farmers. Government figures are also confirming this. Registration for paddy sales for the marketing season 2025-26 started from September 1. Till October 25, 1,54,035 farmers have registered, while the number was 1,51,374 in the same period last year. 15,248 farmers have registered for millet, 2,706 for sorghum and 1,509 for maize.
Big increase in paddy purchase
According to the Food and Logistics Department, this year paddy is being procured at the rate of Rs 2,369 per quintal (common) and Rs 2,389 (grade-A). So far, 44,127.91 metric tonnes of paddy has been purchased from 7,507 farmers. By the same time last year, 25,329.75 metric tonnes had been purchased from 4,517 farmers. Procurement of millet has also increased to 4,153.35 metric tonnes, whereas last year it was 4,021.39 metric tonnes.
Payment to farmers within 48 hours
On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, farmers are being paid within 48 hours. So far, Rs 86.68 crore has been given to paddy sellers and Rs 8.43 crore has been given to millet farmers through DBT. Last year, during the same period, Rs 43.91 crore was paid for paddy and Rs 7.63 crore was paid for millet.
Helpline and transparent process for farmers
Farmers can contact toll free number 18001800150 to solve their problems. Apart from this, they can also contact District Food Marketing Officer, Regional Marketing Officer or Marketing Inspector.
Payment will be made directly into the Aadhaar linked bank accounts of all farmers. For transparency, biometric verification through e-POP (Electronic Point of Purchase) device has been made mandatory at all procurement centres.
