The PR team initially created buzz that a video glimpse of Raaka would be released in August. Fans even began trending #RaakaMonth, but the anticipated glimpse never arrived.
Later, Sun Pictures, the film’s production house, further fuelled the excitement with an intriguing poster featuring the number 37.
This sparked several theories among fans, many of whom assumed the number had some major significance to the film and that a big update was coming on September 21.
The mystery was finally revealed today, but the announcement turned out to be about the film’s motion-capture work.
As Raaka is being made using extensive motion-capture technology, director Atlee and his team simultaneously captured the performances of 37 artistes in real time, an achievement the makers have promoted as a world record.
However, the announcement does not appear to have fully connected with fans.
Instead of offering a glimpse into the film’s world, the video largely focuses on the motion-capture process, along with behind-the-scenes footage and comments from the team.
For fans who had been waiting for months to see Allu Arjun in the world of Raaka, the video offered very little of the actual film.
The presentation also came across more like a corporate promotional video than a conventional movie glimpse.
As a result, several fans have expressed disappointment on social media, with some questioning the scale of the build-up around the number 37.
After creating such high expectations, many fans were hoping for an update that would reveal more about Raaka itself; its world, Allu Arjun’s look, or at least a taste of what Atlee has planned for the big-screen spectacle.
