‘Fanaa’ marks 20 years with Kajol recalling filming in minus 27 degrees in Poland

Kajol commemorated the 20th anniversary of the film ‘Fanaa’ on Tuesday, sharing reflections on the filming experience and the severe weather conditions endured during production in Poland.

Addressing her 18.6 million Instagram followers, the actress posted a still from the film and recounted the challenges and memorable moments from the shoot. “20 years to Fanaa.. my daughter was 2 and a half years old,” she wrote. She added, “What I remember most was Poland in all its glory.. -27 degrees Celsius, beautiful forests and sleds.. used on sidewalks .. ! And off course the fact that I wore a thin salwar kameez while most everyone else was dressed in goose down.. what a blast from the past!”

The post quickly attracted responses from fans and film industry members, who reminisced about the romantic thriller. One fan commented, “This is not just a song, it is a memory of our childhood,” while others commended Kajol’s performance.

Released in 2006, ‘Fanaa’ featured Aamir Khan alongside Kajol and remains a popular romantic thriller. Directed by Kunal Kohli, the film depicts the story of Rehan, a charismatic tour guide portrayed by Aamir Khan, and Zooni, a visually impaired woman played by Kajol.

The narrative intertwines romance, suspense, patriotism, and sacrifice, taking a dramatic turn when Rehan’s secret identity as a terrorist is revealed. The film has also received enduring recognition for its music and emotional storytelling, particularly the songs ‘Chand Sifarish’, ‘Chanda Chamke’, and ‘Tere Hath Me’, which continue to be cherished.
