Family of four dies after consuming biryani in Mumbai’s Pydhonie; cops initiate probe

Mumbai: A tragic incident in Pydhonie area of Mumbai in Maharashtra has left a family of four dead, with preliminary reports pointing to food poisoning as the cause of death. The deceased have been identified as Abdullah Dokadia (40), his wife Nasreen Dokadia (35), and their two daughters, Ayesha (16) and Zainab (13).

According to Mumbai police, the family had consumed a meal together shortly before symptoms of dizziness and abdominal pain. In a statement given to the police prior to his death, one of the victims reportedly said that the family had first eaten biryani and later consumed watermelon.

After some time, the four family members reportedly developed symptoms of food poisoning. The family members could not be saved even after they were provided medical assistance, authorities said.

Concerns over food safety

Authorities have initiated a probe into the incident. Police officials stated that the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem is done. It remains unclear whether the food consumed was contaminated or if there were other other factors involved.

The incident has raised concerns about food safety and hygiene. Officials are expected to examine the source of the food and assess whether any negligence or contamination led to the tragedy.
