Shehbaz Sharif Fact Check: Pakistani Prime Minister’s false claims on Kashmir have been exposed. ‘Fact-check’ on
Pakistan PM Fact Check: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif got a lesson of history on social media platform X (Twitter) on Monday. His false claims regarding Kashmir were exposed to the world after ‘fact-check’. He had said in his post that ‘India had occupied Kashmir’, but community notes on X declared this claim ‘false’.
What was said in the fact-check?
It was clearly written in the community notes on X that Kashmir’s merger with India was not through any occupation, but through a legal process. The then ruler of Kashmir, Maharaja Hari Singh, signed the Instrument of Accession with India on 26 October 1947. After this, the Indian Army was called to protect the state, that is, first the merger took place, then the army was sent. The community note said, ‘The Indian Army did not capture Srinagar, but entered to save people from Pakistani tribal attackers.’
What does history say?
At that time, Pakistan-backed tribal fighters had launched a large-scale attack in Jammu and Kashmir, in which hundreds of innocent people were killed. Maharaja Hari Singh asked for help from India and after this India sent troops to legally protect Kashmir. Indian soldiers reached Srinagar on 27 October 1947, the same day is celebrated today as Infantry Day.
Pakistan still does not understand history
Former Indian diplomat Ashok Sajjanhar said, ‘Pakistan needs to understand history. It is still living in the mentality of 1947.’ He said that ‘India’s action was completely defensive.’
Infantry Day: The day when Indian Army saved Kashmir
The day of 27 October 1947 was not just a military operation but a symbol of protecting the integrity of India. Indian troops took over the security of Srinagar airport and pushed back the Pakistan-backed attackers. Even today the Indian Army remembers that day as Infantry Day.
Pakistan’s lie and India’s truth
While Pakistan observes October 27 as ‘Black Day’, documents and historical facts show that India protected Kashmir under legal and moral authority. At the same time, people in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) are still struggling with electricity crisis, corruption and repression.
Tension deepened since 2019
After the removal of Article 370 in 2019, India had clearly said that ‘Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh were, are and will remain an integral part of India.’ After this statement, Pakistan’s diplomatic campaign intensified, but its lies have been exposed every time on international forums.
