Karnataka Legal Services Authority Fund: The Karnataka High Court has imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on a 72 -year -old woman. The woman had filed a hebius corpus petition in her son’s disappearance case, which was found to be malicious by the court.

An angry woman from the police investigation filed a ‘Hebius Corpus’ petition with the intention of taking revenge, for which the court took this step. A woman named Maheshwari M. had filed a Hebius Corpus petition alleging her son Kripalani M.K. of her son Kripalani M. 7 July 2025.
Police investigation revealed that the woman was in constant contact with her son. Police told the court that the petition was filed only for the purpose of harassing the police. After examining all the evidence, the court found that the woman misused the judicial process in a malicious manner. Justice Anu Shivraman and Rajesh Rai K.K. The bench dismissed the petition, saying, “To protect the judicial process, it is necessary to stop such fake and malicious petitions. Therefore, the petitioner woman, who is lying and knocking the court with false intention, is fined ₹ 2 lakh.
The court ordered the deposit of ₹ 1 lakh from the amount of Karnataka Legal Services Authority and the rest of ₹ 1 lakh in Karnataka Police Benevolant Fund. Also, there has been a warning to register a case of contempt of court for not paying fine within two weeks.
