Fabio Quartararo frustrated (again) with lack of grip at Lusail: ‘It was the best I could do; We depend a lot on the track’

Fabio Quartararo finished seventh in the Qatar GP after initially qualifying eighth. The French Yamaha rider again complained about his bike’s chronic grip problems, which compromised his performance in the main race.

‘We had more or less the same old problem when grip is low. Then it gets a little better, but it’s already too late’, said Quartararo after the race. The former world champion was unable to replicate his good start from the previous day in the Sprint race.

The Frenchman stressed that the riding style required by Yamaha is completely different from that of his rivals: ‘I gave it my all. Today was the best I could do, unfortunately’, he confessed, revealing some frustration with the technical limitations.

Asked about possible improvements, Quartararo revealed that the team needs new parts to solve the grip problems: ‘We depend a lot on the track. We know that after the Moto2 race, conditions get a little worse, and we need something to take a step forward‘, he explained.
