One person died in the blast of an explosive thrown from a flyover on the evening of 24 December in Mogabazar area of Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka. The blast occurred near the crowded Freedom Fighters Memorial. The attackers fled from the spot and police surrounded the area.

On the evening of Wednesday 24 December, attackers threw some explosives from a flyover in Mogabazar area of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, due to which a person lost his life due to the loud explosion. The blast occurred under the flyover in front of Moghabazar Freedom Fighters Memorial, where there is a lot of crowd. According to Masud Alam, deputy commissioner of Ramna Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, preliminary investigation suggests that the bomb was thrown from the flyover. Till now no group has taken responsibility for this. Currently investigation is going on.
The deceased used to work in a private factory
Eyewitnesses said that the explosive device was thrown from above the flyover, which exploded as soon as it fell on the ground. One person got seriously injured due to this. He died shortly afterwards. Relatives of the deceased have identified him as Saiful Siam alias ‘Sam’. Family members told that Saiful worked in a private factory and was in the same area at the time of the blast. Immediately after the incident, panic spread in the area and the police surrounded the area. The attackers fled immediately after throwing the device.
Saiful had stopped at the shop to drink tea, his skull got cracked
Farooq, who sold tea on the roadside at the scene of the incident, told that Saiful had come to his shop to drink tea. When he was going to wash the cup, there was a massive explosion. I ran and saw that Saiful was lying on the ground in agony and blood was flowing from his head. According to reports, the bomb thrown from the flyover fell directly on Saiful’s head, shattering his skull.
2 churches around the place where the explosion took place
At present the police have cordoned off the area and started investigation. It is being told that there are two churches present around the place where this incident took place. Also the blast took place just before Christmas. In such a situation, the police is investigating from this angle also. Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rehman criticized the incident, saying that some evil forces want to destabilize the country. The blast occurred just a day before the return of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s son Tariq Rehman from London after 15 years.
