The 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar (ATT) Trophy ended with a dramatic finish at the Oval Stadium in London as India levelled the series 2-2 with a six-run victory on the fifth day with Mohammed Siraj proving to be the hero with a five-wicket haul during the thrilling finish.
The series saw all five games go to a fifth day with close finishes in almost all games as the two teams produced an encounter that will be remembered for a long time. There were some memorable individual performances from both teams.
One key thing the world had its eyes on was who will get the Player of the Series (POTS) award. Ultimately, the award was given to Harry Brook and Shubman Gill, with the likes of Ben Stokes, Joe Root, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohammed Siraj missing out.
Why were two MOTS given after the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy?
As a long-standing tradition during Test series in England, the MOTS award is awarded to a player from both teams. From England, the prize was given to Brook while the Indian captain Gill got the award for the Indian side.
The choice is made by the opposition coach, meaning it was Gautam Gambhir’s choice to hand over the prize to Harry Brook, while Brendon McCullum decided Gill as the winner.
Gill produced a record-breaking display with 754 runs in five matches at an average of 75.40 with four centuries to his name. Meanwhile, Brook was England’s second-highest run-getter with 481 runs at an average of 53.44 with two centuries.
This was the first-ever ATT rophy after the rebranding of the series, and the two teams shared the trophy. Previously, the two teams used to compete for the Pataudi (in England) and Anthony de Mello Trophy (in India), both of which were retired as Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson were honoured by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the England Cricket Board (ECB)
