KL Rahul’s 11 Test centuries were only his second at home. He last scored a home century in 2016 against England at Chennai. where he went on to slam 199. He has scored a Test century at home after 3211 days. This is now the longest time between two home centuries by an Indian player. He overtakes Mohinder Amarnath, who had a 2886-day gap between his two home Test centuries.
Out of Rahul’s 11 Test tons, 10 have come as an opener for India. He now becomes the fourth Indian batter after Sunil Gavaskar (33), Virender Sehwag (22) and Murali Vijay (12) to score 10 or more centuries as an opener for India in the longest format. He overtakes current head coach Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma- both of whom have 9 Test centuries as an opener for Team India.
KL Rahul slammed his 6th century for India in the World Test Championship. He is now the player with the joint second-most centuries in the competition for India alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill lead he pack with 9 tons in the WTC.
