What is hydroponic weed?
There is a method of farming in which plants are grown without using soil. This is called hydroponic farming. In this technique the roots of the plants are kept supplied with nutrients, water and oxygen. Due to this, plants get nutrients directly and their growth happens very fast. The hemp grown using this technique is called hydroponic hemp or hydroponic weed. At many places, special farms are made to grow it, while at many places arrangements are made to grow it in big ponds and in the sea.

Hydroponic weed is more intoxicating than normal marijuana.
Why is it banned in India?
Hemp grown using hydroponic technology has much higher levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) than regular marijuana. Due to this, it is more intoxicating than normal marijuana. This hydroponic weed is used by filling it in cigarette or cigar paper. Considering it a threat to humans, the Indian government has banned hydroponic weed in the country. That means it can neither be grown in India, nor can it be traded, nor can it be used.
it’s a very expensive drug
It is produced in abundance in many countries of the world, especially Thailand. The craze for drug addiction is also increasing among the youth. It is in great demand in secret rave parties. Due to this, it is smuggled to India from places like Bangkok and Hong Kong. Every day this drug is being caught in some city or the other.
It is produced so much in Thailand that it is even called the cocaine of the poor. However, this hydroponic weed is also a very expensive drug. Its price is also much higher than that of common ganja. The cost of one kg hydroponic weed is around Rs 1 crore.
