EXCLUSIVE: New Honda SUV Launch Likely By Year-End

After relatively slow progress over the past few years, Honda is finally gearing up to accelerate and expand its presence in India with new fully-imported and locally manufactured models. We’ve learned that one of the most important is an all-new mid-size SUV set to launch soon! Here’s what you can expect.

New Honda SUV India Launch By Year-End

MotorOctane has learned from trusted sources that Honda could launch its all-new 0 Alpha (Zero Alpha) SUV in India in December 2026. Now, Honda could take a few different approaches.

While Honda has already confirmed that this SUV will officially launch in 2027, it could do a name announcement (if the model will get a new name for India) and reveal a few important details in the coming weeks, tentatively around Diwali, and move the car launch up to the following month. The other scenario: this name announcement could take place in December, followed by a price announcement in early 2027 (Q1). Hopefully, we will get a confirmation soon.

New Honda SUV – What Is It?

The 0 Alpha is Honda’s all-new electric SUV, meant to serve as the entry point into the new Alpha model range. However, Honda cancelled the larger Alpha SUV and sedan models at the start of 2026, making the 0 Alpha the only model left in the range for now. In India, it will compete with cars like the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Sierra EV, Mahindra BE 6, Maruti e Vitara, and Toyota eBella, to name a few.

Honda will manufacture the 0 Alpha in India for both domestic sales and exports. Unlike most conventional EVs currently on sale in India, the 0 Alpha will be a genuinely new and exciting addition, primarily due to its unique styling – it will look unlike any other SUV. We can say this with confidence, as Honda has already released official images of camouflaged prototypes undergoing testing.

A new 3-spoke steering wheel was also spotted. Other expected features include powered and ventilated front seats, ventilated rear seats (recently introduced on the 2026 Elevate facelift), Level-2 ADAS (the most advanced version of Honda Sensing in India), wireless charging, a head-up display (HUD), and a 360-degree camera.

Honda 0 Alpha Battery, Range and Performance

Honda has not revealed any technical specifications yet. However, we expect the 0 Alpha to get a 60-75 kWh battery pack, with an estimated driving range of over 500 km. We expect these details to be revealed in the coming weeks, hopefully during the name announcement.
