Exclusive | Love and War shooting reportedly on hold after Sanjay Leela Bhansali asked to take rest

Mumbai: The shooting of the Bollywood movie Love and War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is reportedly on hold for about ten days. Sources told News9 that the decision was taken after the filmmaker was advised to take rest due to poor health.

FWICE President BN Tiwari confirmed the news and stated, “The shooting is put on hold as we have been told director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is not well and has been advised rest.”

Earlier, reports of the filmmaker being hospitalised had circulated on social media. The initial news claimed that he had suffered a heart attack and was admitted to NH Hospital. However, his team informed the media that it was incorrect. They stated that he was doing well and that he had gone to the hospital for a routine checkup.

“Reports about SLB being hospitalised are completely false and baseless. There is no truth to them. We request you to kindly refrain from carrying any such stories, as they have no verified source. He is only gone for routine checkup. Thank you for your understanding,” said the team.

The renowned filmmaker, who is immensely passionate about his work, has been busy with his latest movie, Love & War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. It is scheduled for release in August, 2026.

Sanjay, who has created magic with movies like Devdas, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, and Black, has often vocalised the love he has for his craft.

“Filmmaking is the dearmost [sic] thing to me in life. It is my god, my mother, my father, my lover; everything is cinema,” said Sanjay to Hollywood Reporter.

The director celebrated his 63rd birthday on February 24.
