Rural women of UP are becoming self-reliant through the NRLM scheme of Yogi government. Rita Devi of Fatehpur joined a self-help group and started fishing and a beauty parlor, today she is a role model for the women of the village.

Prayagraj. The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is making continuous efforts to make almost half the population of the state, i.e. women, self-reliant. The effect of these efforts is now clearly visible in rural areas. By joining the Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), thousands of women are becoming self-reliant and strengthening the economic condition of the villages.

NRLM changed the lives of housewives

Now domestic women are starting their own employment by making proper use of the loan facilities available under the Rural Livelihood Mission. These women are not only increasing the income of their families, but are also inspiring other women of the village to become self-reliant.

Rita Devi of Dagaraiya village: Journey from struggle to success

Rita Devi, a resident of Dagraiya village located in Malwa development block of Fatehpur district of Prayagraj division of UP, has become an inspiration for rural women. Rita tells that her husband is a marginal farmer and earlier the financial condition of the family was very weak. It was a mud house and the house was run with great difficulty.

Started self-employment by joining women’s self-help group

Rita Devi got information about Rural Livelihood Mission through local women. After this, in the year 2017, she along with 10 women formed ‘Jai Santoshi Maa Women Self-Help Group’. Through the group, he got a loan of Rs 1 lakh 40 thousand from CCL Fund, with which he started fish farming in the village.

Income of 15 to 20 thousand rupees every month from fishing.

Today Rita Devi has three fish farming tanks, from which she is earning around Rs 15 to 20 thousand every month. Rita says that this income changed the direction of her life.

Income increased from beauty parlor, permanent house built

With the income from fishing, Rita Devi also started a beauty parlor, which further increased her income. Today he has built a permanent house on his own and has sent both his children to Mumbai for studies.

Rita Devi became a role model for village women

Rita Devi’s success has also inspired other women of the village. She has now become a role model for the women of the village. After becoming self-reliant, Rita is now connecting other women with employment.

More than 1.95 lakh families joined NRLM in Fatehpur district

Mukesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner NRLM (Self-Employment) of Fatehpur district, says that so far 18,344 women self-help groups have been formed in the district. About 1,95,000 families have been connected through these groups. Conscious women are coming forward and inspiring other women also, due to which this campaign of self-reliance is progressing rapidly.

Rita Devi and her team moved towards mushroom production

Rita Devi is now going to take forward her fisheries work and start mushroom production along with 12 other women. This step will not only increase their income but will also provide employment opportunities to more women of the village.
