War 2 has upset a section of the audience with its mediocre execution. Despite picturesque visuals, the handsome Hrithik Roshan, bikini-clad Kiara Advani, and Jr NTR’s swag, this Ayan Mukerji directorial lacked the basic elements that check the boxes for a blockbuster.
Here’s a look at everything that is wrong with War 2 in 350 words or more.
A terrible script
The script is the crux of any film. While the first War had go rogue under the garb of plastic surgery, this one has various shades of Jr NTR with a poor and clichéd back story that cinephiles must’ve watched in several movies. A classic friends turning into foes narrative.
Death-defying logic
An actioner in today’s times requires incredible VFX. This one just gives another reason why it should be gated and used responsibly. From a boat transforming to run on the race track, to a car landing on top of a train, there’s a lot to digest in this one.
Box office clash with Coolie
The reviews for both films are pouring in, and it seems like was a decent watch compared to War 2. Not to be brutal, but the makers of Hrithik and NTR’s film have taken the audience for granted, assuming that just putting out a messy project will work for the Independence Day weekend. The only person worth any expectations was Ayan, but he has failed his fans big time.
Jr NTR’s acting
The Telugu superstar is hailed as a one-take-final-take hero, but he should probably step away from people pleasers and listen to constructive criticism. Even the bare minimum on his part appeared forced and annoying, to say the least.
Hrithik needs to make better choices
A superstar who has fans across generations, with millions waiting for his upcoming movies, Hrithik needs to sit down and take a minute before signing on the dotted line. It’s tiresome to watch him do the same drill over and over again. The charm is wearing out. Perhaps he needs something similar on the lines of Vikram Vedha to balance it out.
The worst screenplay of 2025 so far
A good actioner doesn’t cut slack for an awful screenplay. The dialogues induced a headache. No depth and definitely not enough to invoke any emotion. Even a Salman Khan movie has some level of punch in terms of the lines that he utters. This one puts the ability to pen something meaningful on the back burner and expects a miracle.
