10 thousand crore rupees deal

A deal worth Rs 10 thousand crore can be signed between India and Russia soon. This deal will be for those missiles which were used by India in Operation Vermillion. In fact, India is considering purchasing a large number of missiles from Russia worth about Rs 10,000 crore for its S-400 air defense system. The S-400 air defense system of the Indian Air Force had shot down five to six Pakistani fighter planes and a spy plane at a distance of more than 300 kilometers inside Pakistan during the four-day long conflict and this has been described by the Indian Air Force as a revolutionary change. The ANI report quoted defense sources as saying that the Indian Air Force is considering purchasing a large number of missiles to further strengthen its air defense capabilities. Talks are already going on with the Russian side in this regard.

DAC meeting will be held soon

The report quoted sources as saying that the Defense Ministry will consider the Indian Air Force’s proposal for approval in the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) meeting to be held on October 23. India and Russia signed an agreement in 2018 to purchase five squadrons of S-400 air defense missile systems. The Indian side is also considering adding more S-400 squadrons to its stockpile and is requesting Russia to supply the remaining two squadrons of the missile system, three of which have already been inducted and operational. Three squadrons arrived on schedule, but just before the fourth squadron could be delivered, war broke out between Russia and Ukraine.

Military relations between India and Russia

The two sides also discussed India’s plans to induct more S-400 and S-500 air defense systems at various levels. The Russian military establishment is producing large quantities of equipment for its forces in the fight against Ukraine. India is also considering the option of purchasing new air-to-air missiles from Russia to strengthen its borders. India and Russia have also discussed further enhancing the capabilities of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles and their variants. India and Russia have close military ties, and a large portion of the Indian Air Force’s firepower comes from Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin is also scheduled to visit India in December, where both sides will discuss further strengthening their military hardware cooperation.
