What is overdraft limit
Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, beneficiaries can avail overdraft facility up to Rs 10,000. Explain that if you do not have enough money in your account under overdraft, you can still withdraw money to a certain extent. Under the scheme, all the beneficiaries get a free RuPay Debit Card with an accident insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh.

Recently, the Finance Ministry said that the number of accounts under the capital has increased from 14.72 crore in March 2015 to 56.16 crore by 13 August 2025. 56 percent of the account holders include women. At the same time, 67 percent accounts have been opened in rural and semi-urban areas. Through direct benefit transfer (DBT), Rs 45 lakh crore was transferred directly to the beneficiaries’ accounts. 94 percent of India’s adult population now has a bank account.
38.68 crore rupees debit card released
A total of 38.68 crore rupees debit cards have been issued to the account holders of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. This has provided them the facility of cashless transactions and has reached the underlying accident insurance cover. These accounts are eligible for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY), and Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency Bank (Mudra) scheme.
