The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) faced the wrath of fans as the Indian domestic season 2025-26 started without a chance for cricket lovers to witness them in action during the ongoing Duleep Trophy.
The zonal first-class tournament started on Thursday (August 28) at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru with two quarter-final clashes in which North is facing East Zone, while Central are playing North East Zone.
However, there is no telecast for either game, with the tournament not being shown by the broadcaster yet, and no plans have been announced for the semi-final and final. Fans were left baffled on waking up to realise that they could not watch the match, which features some top Indian international players like Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Mohammed Shami, Rajat Patidar, and Kuldeep Yadav, among others.
Cricket lovers took to social media and lashed out at the Indian cricket governing body, which are the world’s richest cricket organisation. Many users were quick to point out that we live in an era where even small tournaments are shown live, with it was also mentioned that the ongoing Buchi Babu Trophy is being live-streamed on YouTube. Several cricket enthusiasts questioned the BCCI’s seriousness towards domestic cricket. The Central Zone team lost their services of their captain, Dhruv Jurel and Rajat Patidar led the side, who made the most of the chance and scored a knock of 125 in 96 balls. They went into stumps at 432/2 with Danish Malewar unbeaten at 198.
