After Bihar elections 2025, there is a possibility of violence after the results in 3 strong strongholds of Patna – Mokama, Barh, Danapur. Therefore, special teams of STF and BMP will be deployed to maintain law and order. This security cordon will continue even after the results.
Patna: Voting for the first phase of Bihar Elections 2025 has been completed and EVMs have been collected, but security personnel are not being removed from the three assembly constituencies of Patna district, Mokama, Barh and Danapur. In view of the possibility of possible violent clashes in these areas after the election results, the administration has decided to deploy special teams of STF and BMP. Usually, paramilitary forces are withdrawn after voting, but this impenetrable circle of security in these three assembly constituencies will remain in place for a few days after the results are declared.
Mokama’s strongman rivalry and shadow of murder
On the Mokama assembly seat, JDU candidate and Bahubali leader Anant Singh has a direct contest with Veena Devi, wife of Bahubali Surajbhan Singh. This contest has been a fight for supremacy among the strongmen since the beginning. The sensitivity of this seat was further strengthened when just before the voting, Dularchand Yadav was murdered in the area considered to be Anant Singh’s stronghold. In this incident, bullets were fired and a violent clash took place, after which a case was registered against Anant Singh and he was also sent to jail. The administration fears that after the election results are declared, there may be some major incident or violent conflict due to the feeling of revenge.
Flood and direct challenge of strongmen in Danapur
Both Barh and Danapur seats remain sensitive due to strong candidates being in the fray. RJD candidate from Barh, Bahubali Lallu Mukhiya and RJD candidate from Danapur, Bahubali Reetlal Yadav are in the fray. These candidates have a long criminal and political history. Violent clashes often occur between supporters of such leaders to establish supremacy after victory or defeat, which are difficult for the normal police force to control. Therefore, it has been considered necessary to deploy special forces like STF and BMP to immediately control the situation.
Fear of violence after results
According to sources, the possibility of conflict remains in these areas every time after the election results are declared. The administration is careful to ensure that after the election results are declared, neither party should take law and order into their own hands out of celebration or disappointment. The purpose of keeping security tight in sensitive areas is also to reduce the response time in case of any emergency and with the presence of force, the riots can be stopped before they start.
Area domination and checking will continue
Rural SP Aparajit Lohan said that all the companies of central paramilitary forces will leave these areas on Saturday, but STF and BMP teams along with Patna Police will continue to take charge.
- Main work: Intensive checking of vehicles and ‘area domination’ work will continue.
- Administration’s intention: According to sources, this arrangement is being made so that after the results are declared, any untoward incident or conflict arising out of victory or defeat can be controlled immediately.
